India will resume flights to and from the UK from January 8, civil aviation minister said on Friday.

It has been decided that flights between India & UK will resume from 8 Jan 2021.

Operations till 23 Jan will be restricted to 15 flights per week each for carriers of the two countries to & from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru & Hyderabad only. @DGCAIndia will issue the details shortly
The decision comes after Puri on Wednesday extended the ban of flights to and from the UK till January 7 due to the detection of a new strain of novel coronavirus that is spreading wildly in Britain.

Over 30 nations have halted air travel to Britain because of the new strain, which UK officials said has gone "out of control".

At least four more cases of the new variant have been detected in India on Friday taking the total cases to 29, however, it is still not known how many people amongst these 29 visited the UK.
