India takes up killing of Indian civilian in ceasefire violation by Pakistan

India has taken up the killing of an Indian civilian during ceasefire violation by Pakistan. New Delhi made a strong demarche to Pakistan High Commission regarding the ceasefire violation on Tuesday.

Calling the "deliberate targeting" of Indian civilians by Pakistan forces "against all established humanitarian norms and professional military conduct", New Delhi asked Islamabad to desist from such acts immediately and asked Pakistan to "investigate into such heinous acts of killing innocent civilians".

In 2019, 14 Indians have been killed in more than 1410 ceasefire violations by Pakistan so far. 

New Delhi also asked Islamabad to "adhere" to the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding for maintaining peace and tranquillity along the Line of Control and the International Boundary.

Rahme Begum, resident of Dassi Baktoor, died in shelling by Pakistani army in Gurez sector of North Kashmir. In Tangdhar, nine civilians have been injured since Tuesday in ceasefire violations by Pakistan.

While the Indian side is giving a befitting response to Pakistani ceasefire violations, it has also launched a search operation to ensure that no infiltration happened during ceasefire violations.

In the exchange of fire on Tuesday, one Indian soldier Naik Krishan Lal attained martyrdom. Pakistani forces have also suffered a lot of casualties.

The deceased jawan was identified as 34-year-old Naik Krishan Lal, a resident of Ghagriya village in Akhnoor. Two Pakistani soldiers were also killed in retaliatory action by the Indian Army.

Earlier, a 10-day-old baby also sustained injuries in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan. The baby later succumbed to the injuries.

Meanwhile, Indian Deputy High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia was summoned by Pakistan on ceasefire violations. He clearly told that they were initiated by the Pakistani side to provide support to infiltration attempts and the Indian side responded appropriately. 

Ahluwalia said India deplored and condemned the deliberate targeting of innocent Indian civilians by Pakistani forces, pointing out these actions were against established humanitarian norms and professional military conduct.
