India is world's second-most spammed country: Truecaller

A report from the communication app Truecaller has ranked India in the second position in the list of most spammed countries in 2018.

The report released on Tuesday has listed Brazil in the top position.

The figures released by the Truecaller Insight Special Report showed that Indian users received over six per cent spammed calls in 2018. While the users in Brazil have witnessed an increase of 81 per cent in spam calls this year.

An average Truecaller user in Brazil has received 37.5 spam calls per month compared to 22.3 calls per month in India.

With increasing spammed calls Chile, South Africa and Mexico occupy the next three places in the list.

In a statement released Truecaller said that operators and telecom service providers are the top spammers in the country.

The communication app also added that it had identified and blocked over 17 billion spam calls across the world.
