India, Nepal security agencies concerned about funds flow by hardliners from Pakistan, Gulf countries: MHA sources

Indian security agencies from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar along with Nepal border security agency held a meeting in Patna recently to address the growing radical activities along the Nepal border, home ministry sources said.

Indian security agencies are concerned about funds being sent by hardliners from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Qatar to radical groups at the Indo-Nepal Border, the sources informed.

According to sources, during the meeting, Intelligence Bureau(IB) officials presented a report on financial and institutional links to Pakistan and Gulf countries of the radical groups and the mushrooming of Madrasas funded by Gulf nations.

Local Intelligence agencies from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar had earlier reported that most of the Madrasas along the Indo-Nepal border had foreign teachers and often they "digressed" from the religious teachings. The intelligence sleuths had highlighted the radicalization Indian Muslims through videos and other provocative material.

The porous Indo-Nepal border poses a unique challenge for security agencies on both sides of the border with rampant infiltration and human trafficking underway including smuggling of fake Indian currency notes.
