Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday called India "an important neighbour" and said that she came to Kolkata on BCCI chief and former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly's invitation to witness the first-ever pink ball Test match between the two nations.

"I came here on the invitation of Sourav Ganguly. It's the first-ever pink-ball Test match between India and Bangladesh, so I came to witness the occasion," Hasina said.

The Bangladeshi Prime Minister thanked the Indian audience and said that she gets a lot of "support and love" here.

After attending the cricket match, Hasina held a meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

PM Hasina arrived in Kolkata earlier in the day and inaugurated the first pink-ball day-night test match between India and Bangladesh along with West Bengal CM.

Hasina was received by BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly as she arrived at Kolkata's Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport today.
