Husband beats woman in public on Panchayat's order in Uttar Pradesh
The Uttar Pradesh police have arrested a former panchayat head for allegedly beating his wife in public in Bulandshahr.
The man beat his wife on the order of village panchayat for allegedly eloping with another man.
The police have also arrested the son of the accused in the matter.

According to media reports, the woman was tied to a tree and thrashed in front of the villagers. After beating, she was dragged to a room and was allegedly molested.
The police said that the panchayat wanted to "teach a lesson to the woman".
The Superintendent of police Praveen Ranjan Singh said that the police have registered a case against 18 people including 12 unidentified persons after the video of the incident went viral on social media.
