While Zomato maintained that the company has a zero-tolerance policy for tampering of food, the particular incident, has damaged the food-delivery firm's reputation.

The video of a Zomato delivery executive consuming some of the food meant for delivery to users, on his way to the drop points went viral earlier today.

While Zomato maintained that the company has a zero-tolerance policy for tampering of food, the particular incident, has damaged the food-delivery firm's reputation.

This is not the first time such a bizarre incident is taking place. People who ordered phone receiving detergent bars and stones have become commonplace.

Recently, a man in Florida said he received an unpleasant and unwanted side with his food order - dirty underwear. The Uber Eats customer was shocked to find soiled underwear with his food order.

Back home, as recently as December 11, Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha ordered a Bose headphone but instead of what she ordered, the actor received a nut and bolt neatly packed in bubble wrap.

''Hey @amazonIN! Look whatam i got instead of the @bose headphones i ordered! Properly packed and unopened box, looked legit... but only on the outside. Oh and your customer service doesnt even want to help, thats what makes it even worse,'' the actress posted on Twitter.

''Anybody want to buy a brand new shiny piece of junk for 18,000 bucks?  (Yup, its a steal) Dont worry, im selling, not @amazonIN, so ull get exactly what you’re ordering,'' the actress said in another tweet.

Food deliver app Swiggy boasts a 55,000-executives strong delivery fleet from 30,000 at the beginning of the year, while Zomato also has a fleet of about 50,000 executives.

The delivery boys earn between ₹ 25,000 and ₹ 50,000 per month, depending on factors such as the number of deliveries completed and the distance they cover.

Though the food delivery apps and online marketplaces boast of a large number of customer base, a spate of such bizarre deliveries can cause irreparably damage the reputation of the firm.
