The commissioner added that they were interrogating one other person.

Police said he had told them about Honeypreet's whereabouts during the period she was absconding.

The violence that Honeypreet is accused of instigating had broken out in Panchkula, a suburb of Chandigarh, on August 25 after Gurmeet Singh was convicted of having raped two of his female followers back in 2002.

More than 35 people died in the violence

Honeypreet had been absconding since August 25. She was arrested on Tuesday.
