Hillary Clinton arrives on three-day private visit to India

Former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton on Sunday arrived in India on a three-day private visit to Madhya Pradesh.   

She arrived at the Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport in a private plane amid tight security.

"Clinton will be in the city for a couple of days and she may visit nearby tourist places between March 11-13," Indore Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Harinarayanchari Mishra said.

During her stay in MP, Clinton is scheduled to visit the state's erstwhile Holkar kingdom, where apart from a boat ride along the scenic Narmada river, she would also watch the world-renowned Maheshwari saree being weaved.

Clinton is in Maheshwar at the invitation of Richard Holkar, scion of the erstwhile Holkar kingdom.

She would be staying tonight at the Ahilya Fort Hotel in Maheshwar. 

"This is a private visit," Khargone Collector Ashok Kumar Verma told media. 

As per media reports, Clinton will be visiting Mandu, home to historical monuments frequented earlier by Mughal rulers 

In 2016 US presidential elections, Clinton, who was the Democratic   presidential nominee was defeated by Republican rival Donald Trump
