Heavy rains have led to flash floods in Vadodara on Thursday after which chief minister Vijay Rupani held a high-level meeting to review torrential rain situation in the city, reported news agency ANI.

Rupani has deputed two IAS officers to provide guidance to the local administration. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed to shift people from low lying areas to safer locations. All schools and colleges have been ordered to remain shut on August 1.

Meanwhile, flight operations have been halted at Vadodara airport till 3pm today due to waterlogging and garbage accumulation on the runway.

Western Railways have cancelled and short terminated several trains due to heavy rains and waterlogging at Vadodara Junction railway station.
