Google Doodle celebrates great Kannanda writer Kuppali Venkatappa Puttappa
Follow UsGoogle has today dedicated the google doodle to Kuppali Venkatappa Puttappa on his 113th birth anniversary.
Kuppali Venkatappa Puttappa was the greatest Kannada medium writer of the 20th Century.
The great poet, playwright, Critic and thinker had immense love for his mother tongue.
He studied at the Mysore University in the 1920s, taught there for about three decades and then took over as the Vice-Chancellor of the University. He taught in the University in Kannada.
His contributions to Kannada literature earned him the prestigious Jnanpith Award and Karnataka Ratna. He was also honoured with the Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan by the Indian government.
He has written the Karnataka State Anthem Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate.
Puttappa was born on 29 December 1904 and died in Mysore on 11 November 1994 at the age 89.
