It's Mary Ann Evans' 110th birth anniversary and Google has a Doodle in place to commemorate the event.

Popularly known by her stage name 'Fearless Nadia', Evans was born on January 8, 1908, in Perth Australia.

Evans visited India at the age of five and stayed back to pick up numerous skills like fishing, hunting and horseriding.

She went on to become a notable actress and stuntwoman in the Indian film industry.

Evans picked up 'Fearless Nadia' as her stage name and got her big break in Homi Wadia's Hunterwali, 1935.

Nadia also starred in other Hindi feature films like Desh Deepak and Noor-e-Yaman and garnered attention for her daring, death-defying stunts in Hindi cinema.

Nadia married director/writer Homi Wadi in the year 1961.

Vishal Bharadwaj's recent release, Rangoon, has a key character based on Fearless Nadia.

In the film, 'Jaanbaaz Julia' -- a character inspired by Nadia and played by Kangana Ranaut -- does her own stunts and rises to fame.

Fearless Nadia, also known as Australia's first Bollywood icon and the original Stunt Queen of India, will always be remembered for her bold and daring roles in Hindi cinema.

Nadia can aptly be described as someone who paved way for power-packed female-centric roles in early Bollywood cinema
