German woman a saviour angel for cows in India, seeks visa extension

 A German woman, Sudevi, in India's northern holy town of Mathura, a saviour of more than a thousand injured cattle for 12 years, is now facing the possibility of deportation back to her country.

Sudevi, born Friederike Irina Bruning in Germany came to India as a tourist around 35 years ago. On her visit to the holy town of Mathura as a tourist seeking spiritual blessings, Sudevi found her life goal in 1,600 injured cows that needed a helping hand.

However, as the expiration date of her visa nears, Sudevi is growing more and more concerned. I need an extension on my visa, if I leave then who will take care of these cows, Sudevi said.

The cowshed is now known as 'Surabhi cow protection centre for sick, injured and abandoned calves'. The German philanthropist receives no financial aid from any government agencies. She arranges the money from her hometown in Berlin and takes care of all the expenses on her own.

A group of officials met member of Indian Parliament, Hema Malini to seek assistance in the visa renewal process. Malini has assured to take the process forward to foreign affairs minister, Sushma Swaraj.

Foreigners in India often come here as tourists and a fraction of these find goal of living in India and establish a permanent residence.
