Gauri Lankesh murder case: Another arrested for 'harbouring' accused

Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Thursday arrested a 37-year old hotelier from Belagavi city in Karnataka in connection to the Gauri Lankesh murder case. 

Bharat Kurne, a resident of Sambhaji Gali in Belagavi, was arrested on charges of harbouring two key accused in the case, PTI reported.

According to reports, Kurne 'harboured' Amol Kale, the mastermind behind the murder, and sharpshooter Parashuram Waghmare. 

"We have arrested one Bharat Kurne. He has been remanded to judicial custody (by a court) and we have applied for police custody," an official told PTI.

The total number of suspects arrested in the case now rests at 12.

55-year-old anti-establishment voice, Gauri Lankesh, was shot dead by unknown assailants at her Bengaluru home on September 5, 2017.

On March 9, six months after the murder, the Karnataka police arrested alleged gunrunner Naveen Kumar. He was taken into police custody on March 2 for an interrogation.
