All 4 accused in Hyderabad veterinary doctor's rape and murder case killed in encounter

Telangana police on Friday morning said that all the four people accused in the rape and murder of woman veterinarian in Telangana have been killed in an encounter with the police.

According to the police, the accused were shot dead when they tried to escape while being taken to the crime spot. 

The burnt body of the 26-year-old veterinary doctor was found on November 28 under a culvert on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru national highway. 

As per the preliminary probe, the doctor was sexually assaulted before being charred to death.

The Cyberabad police had arrested four men on November 29 in connection with their involvement in the rape and murder case.

The accused were identified as Mohammad Areef, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen, and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu. Mohammad Areef (25), who worked as a driver, was the prime accused in the case.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said the accused Mohammed Arif, Naveen, Shiva and Chennakeshavulu were killed in a Police encounter at Chatanpally, Shadnagar today in the wee hours, between 3 am and 6am. 

''I have reached the spot and further details will be revealed,'' he added.  

'My daughter's soul must be at peace now'

Meanwhile. the father of the woman veterinarian expressed his gratitude towards the police and the government after the news about the encounter broke out.  

''It has been 10 days to the day my daughter died. I express my gratitude towards the police and the government for this. My daughter's soul must be at peace now,'' he said.
