Found VG Siddhartha's body floating on water, shifted to hospital: Police

Police on Wednesday said that the body of VG Siddhartha, Cafe Coffee Day founder and son-in-law of former Karnataka chief minister SM Krishna was found floating on water by a local fisherman early Wednesday.

Siddhartha's body was spotted by a local fisherman early morning two days after he went missing. Suspecting that this could be the body of coffee baron Siddhartha, the fisherman alerted the authorities who reached the spot and recovered the body.

Former Karnataka minister UT Khader confirmed the identity of the body.

''Yes, it's his (Siddhartha) body,'' he said and added it's very ''sad'' news.

According to sources, family members of the coffee tycoon have been informed and are likely to reach Mangaluru anytime.

The last rites of the departed CCD founder is likely to take place at his native place Chikmangaluru, the sources added. 

Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil said the search team found the body early morning today and it's being shifted to Wenlock Hospital.

''We found the body early morning today. It needs to be identified, we have already informed the family members. We are shifting the body to Wenlock Hospital. We will continue further investigation,'' he said.
