Former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Madan Lal Khurana passed away in Delhi at the age of 82 on the intervening night of October 27 and November 1.

The former member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Bhartiya Janata Party was the chief minister of Delhi from 1993 to 1996.

Born on October 15, 1936, in Punjab province (present-day Pakistan) Khurana also served as the Governor of Rajasthan in 2004 and was the Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Tourism in Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. 

Madan Lal Khurana is credited with reviving the BJP after the party lost badly in the 1984 general elections. His work gave him the title of "Dilli ka Sher".
