Dumka treasury case: Lalu Prasad Yadav sentenced to 7 years jail under two offences

The verdict has been delivered under IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act.
An additional fine of Rs 60 lakh has also been imposed.
Imprisonment of 7 years each has been given under IPC & Prevention of Corruption Act, both to run concurrently. Total fine will be Rs. 60 lakh. Responding to the judgement, Lalu Yadav's son and former deputy chief minister of Bihar, has said that they will challenge the court's verdict in the High court.
He added that there was a threat to Lalu Yadav's life.
We will challenge it in HC. We Will decide further strategy on basis of overall judgement in all 4 cases. Lalu was convicted in the case on March 19 by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ranchi.
The case involves the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 3.13 crore from December 1995 to January 1996 from the Dumka treasury.
The fodder scam was first unearthed in the 1990's by the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General when it noticed that invoices from the Bihar treasury would always come in late.
Lalu, who is accused in a total of six fodder scam cases, has been found guilty in three cases so far.
An earlier conviction in 2013 for five years had made him ineligible to stand for elections for six years.
