Fodder scam case: Got phone calls from Lalu's men, says judge

As Lalu Prasad appeared in Ranchi court for sentencing in the fodder scam case, the judge told the RJD chief that "he got phone calls from Lalu's men".

"I got many references for you but don't worry, I will follow only law", Special CBI court judge Shivpal Singh said in court on Thursday.

The sentencing was deferred again, for the second time in two days, and the judge will now pronounce the verict on Friday, January 5.

Lalu and 15 others were convicted on December 23 by the special CBI court.

The case pertains to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 84.5 lakh from the Deoghar district (now in Jharkhand) treasury in the 90s when Lalu was the Bihar chief minister.

The CBI court had acquitted another former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra and five others in a similar case.

Lalu was the chief minister of then undivided Bihar from 1990 to 1997.

The trial was completed on December 13 in the CBI court and 10 days later he was convicted.
