Five terrorists killed in encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian

At least five terrorists were killed following an encounter that broke early morning in Reban village of Zainapora belt in south Kashmir's Shopian district.

Inspector-General of Police Vijay Kumar (IPS) told that five terrorists were killed in the operation. However, he said, the identity of the slain militants was yet to be ascertained.

As per the sources top commander is among the five slain terrorists.

Sources said that the slain terrorists belong to Hizbul Mujahideen outfit. 

Earlier, sources said that a joint team of Police, Army’s Ist RR and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area. 

They said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter. 

Meanwhile, as precautionary measure internet services have been snapped in Shopian and Kulgam districts of southern Kashmir.
