Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar has now permanently deleted his personal account on Facebook. This comes in the wake of the social media giant facing a backlash on the issue of data breach.

The 44-year-old celebrity is the latest to quit Facebook, however, he did not mention the exact reason for quitting the platform. He shared the news on Twitter Tuesday morning and wrote: "Good morning. This is to inform you all that I have permanently deleted my personal Facebook account. However, the verified Farhan Akhtar Live page is still active.”

Facebook is under fire for leaking information of users without their knowledge to the British firm, Cambridge Analytica which allegedly helped Trump’s political campaign in 2016. A couple days ago, Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook chief took out full-page ads in almost all of Britain's national newspapers Sunday to apologise for the huge data privacy scandal.

Zuckerberg said, "We have a responsibility to protect your information. If we can't we don't deserve it. This was a breach of trust, and I'm sorry we didn't do more at the time. We're now taking steps to make sure this doesn't happen again.
