Faizabad district to be renamed as Ayodhya, announces UP chief minister

Announcing that Faizabad district will be renamed as Sri Ayodhya, Adityanath said, "We should not limit our gods to mere chants and slogans."

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced that very soon Faizabad will be renamed as Sri Ayodhya.

"Ayodhya is a symbol of our identity. It gets its significance and recognition because of Lord Rama," he said.

"Friends, Atithi Devo Bhava has been a major part of the Indian culture. I am grateful to South Korea for accepting the Indian culture. Because of Narendra Modi, we are able to achieve new heights," Yogi Adityanath said in Ayodhya.

"Nobody can do injustice to Ayodhya. We will be constructing a new medical college in Ayodhya. It will be named after Raja Dashrath," Yogi Adityanath said.

Announcing that Faizabad district will be renamed as Sri Ayodhya, Adityanath said, "We should not limit our gods to mere chants and slogans."

Adityanath was speaking on the occasion of "Deepotsav" on Diwali eve.

He also announced setting up of a new airport in Ayodhya, named after Lord Ram, and a medical college in the name of King Dashrath, father of Lord Ram, in the district.

A section of the crowd was also heard chanting "Mandir ka nirman karao" (build a temple).

"Deepotsav is about starting a new tradition," Adityanath said at the event at Katha Park which was also attended by South Korean First Lady Kim Jung-sook.

Several projects, including redevelopment and beautification of 'Ram Ki Paidi' and stoppage of sewage disposal in Saryu river, were launched at the event.
