In the wake of the ongoing turmoil faced by the social media giant Facebook, Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group took to Twitter on Monday contemplating the possibility of an alternative to Facebook.

"Beginning to wonder if it’s time to consider having our own social networking company," the 62-year-old tweeted.

Mahindra also noted that the alternative social networking platform must be "very widely owned, professionally managed and willingly regulated".

He welcomed young leaders and entrepreneurs of the country for plans and ideas on similar lines.

"Any relevant Indian start-ups out there? If any young teams have such plans I’d like to see if I can assist with seed capital," read Mahindra's tweet.

Going by the strong footing and capital gains that the Mahindra groups enjoy, the possibility of its investment in a similar project would not come as a surprise. Tech Mahindra, Mahindra Group's IT wing, is one of the top software exporters in the country.
