'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' races ahead of 'Welcome to New York' at the Box Office

Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha's Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety helmed by Luv Ranjan was one of the most anticipated films in its genre given the great track record of this trio have had. They have previously given two back to back hits which helped Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety to garner more curiosity before its release. Now that film has hit the screens all across, it has received mixed reviews from the critics and tremendous love from the audiences. 

The film also stars Sunny Singh who has delivered stellar performance along with Nushrat and Kartik. All reviews unanimously have applauded Kartik’s incredible range and his charming screen presence.

Every week box office sees a clash, and last Friday was no different. Along with Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Puja Films's Welcome to New York, a multi starrer film starring Sonakshi and Diljit in the lead, had also released. Early reports suggest that SKTKS has raced ahead of this multi-starrer film owing to its performances and an incredible response from the audiences. 

The box office numbers also seem to suggest so.The first day opening of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety was close to 7 CR and that of Welcome to New York was approximately 1.2 crores.

After two days, the film earned Rs 15.76 cores which is a good number considering the film was pitted against Welcome To New York which had bigger stars featured in it. 

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh mused on his Twitter page that how the success of SKTKS has established the fact that good content works even if the film does not have a big star.

The film is Luv Ranjan's fourth collaboration with Nushrat and Kartik and third with Sunny.
