Irrfan Khan diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour, leaves country for treatment

Actor Irrfan Khan issued a fresh statement on Friday afternoon revealing that he has been diagnosed with a NeuroEndocrine tumour and he would be flying out of the country for treatment. 

In an official statement posted on Twitter, the actor revealed that dealing with the diseases has been difficult and he is thankful to those who gave him strength and love. 

"The unexpected makes us grow, which is what the past few days have been about. Learning that I have been diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Tumour as of now has admittedly been difficult, but the love and strength of those around me and that I found within me has brought me to a place of hope. The journey of this is taking me out of the country, and I request everyone to continue sending their wishes. As for the rumours that were floated NEURO is not always about the brain and googling is the easiest way to do research. To those who waited for my words, I hope to be back with more stories to tell," the statement read.

The actor, last week had issued a statement revealing that he has been diagnosed with a rare disease and had requested everyone to not speculate about it. "My family and friends are with me and we are working it out the best way possible. In trying times, please don’t speculate as I will myself share with you my story within a week – 10 days when further investigations come with a conclusive diagnosis. Till then, wish the best for me,” the actor had written. 

Irrfan's illness came to light when Vishal Bhardwaj announced that he would be postponing his next film with the actor and Deepika Padukone as both were not well. There was a lot of speculation about the actor's health and many suspected he had a brain tumour. The actor's colleagues and friends from the film industry had rallied for him and requested Media to give him and his family the space he had requested for.
