Sandeep Singh will now become the first Indian hockey player to get a wax statue, thanks to a movie being made on him titled Soorma starring Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role. The wax statue will be put up in Jaipur Wax Museum at Nahargarh Fort which houses only a limited number of personalities.

The said wax museum chooses icons on the basis of suggestions and requests posted by visitors, thus Sandeep was picked up as interest around him piqued after Soorma was announced. Interestingly, Dhyan Chand, who is considered the greatest player in the history of Indian hockey, will get his wax statue installed post-Sandeep gets his.

Sandeep announced the good news with a picture on his social media. He captioned it: "It’s really honour to see own wax statue in Jaipur wax museum proud moment....thanks to all supporters and lovers. can’t wait  #sandeepsingh #waxstatue #jaipurmuseum#soorma #13july @diljitdosanjh @taapsee @angadbedi @chitrangda @thesneharajani @sonypicsprodns @bikramjeet007"

Slated for a release on July 13, Soorma is an important role for the Punjabi star in his own words. Speaking about the film, Diljit said, “I feel proud to be part of 'Soorma'. Sandeep has never failed to make India proud, be it on the field or off it. He keeps setting the benchmark higher.” See new poster.

The film is produced by Sony Pictures Networks India, Chitrangda Singh, and Deepak Singh. It also stars Taapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi in important roles. The film is directed by Shaad Ali, who is known for helming films Kill Dil, Ok Jaanu, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Bunty Aur Babli and Saathiya.
