'Avengers Infinity War' beats 'Padmaavat' with Rs 120 crore collection in first three days

Marvel Universe’s latest offering Avengers: Infinity War was expected to break records but such a staggering leap has left all stunned. The box office collection of the film in India has so far broken records of all movies released this year including high grosser Padmaavat as Avengers raked in more than Rs 120 crore in its first three days of release. 

As per trade sources, the Hollywood mega starrer garnered Rs 41.67 crore on Sunday, taking its gross box office collection to Rs 120.90 crore. The film registered Rs 31.3 crore on Friday and Rs 30.50 crore on Saturday. The film has thus collected Rs 94.30 crore in nett box office collection and Rs 120.90 crore gross box office collection. The Indian box office records are indicative of the film’s performance worldwide. The film has already broken the record for highest North American opening weekend, earning $250 million at US and Canadian box offices. Globally, the film earned $630 million (approximately Rs 4181 crore) at the box office in its first weekend. This, without even releasing in China which is the second biggest market in the world. Avengers: Infinity War was made at around $300 million budget with another $150 million or so used to market it. The film is the 19th in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Directed by the Russo Brothers, it features Robert Downey Jr, Josh Brolin, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L Jackson, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Don Cheadle, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Tom Hiddleston.
