AR Rahman signs up for Bollywood remake of 'The Fault In Our Stars'

Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman has been roped to make music for forthcoming Bollywood remake of hit film The Fault in Our Stars.

The Hindi language remake of The Fault In Our Stars is produced by Fox Star Studios India. The Hollywood film was based on John Green's novel of the same name and was directed by Josh Boone starring Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort and Nat Wolff, with Laura Dern, Sam Trammell and Willem Dafoe in supporting roles. As part of the storyline, Woodley played a 16-year-old cancer patient who attends a support group where she subsequently meets and falls in love with a cancer survivor (Elgort).

The Bollywood version marks the directorial debut of casting director Mukesh Chhabra with Sushant Singh Rajput playing the lead. 

Rahman’s latest international project was Iranian director Majid Majidi’s India-set drama Beyond the Clouds starring Shahid Kapoor's younger sibling, Ishan Khatter. 

The 51-year-old composer is India's most successful music makers who has won multiple awards including an Oscar and Grammy for his work on Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire. He worked again with Boyle on the 2010 release 127 Hours that starred James Franco.
