An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Nawakadal area of Srinagar on the intervening night of 18-19 May, according to police sources.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.
Update.The operation was launched on a credible police input last night in #Kanemazar #Nawakadal #Srinagar. Some exchange of Fire took place during night. One Police SOG personnel injured. Firing resumed during search in the morning and the operation continues.
