The Enforcement Directorate on Saturday summoned Nirav Modi's family for questioning in the PNB scam worth over $2 billion.

The ED called the family for questioning after Nirav Modi's repeated failures in appearing before the court despite several summonses.

The Enforcement Directorate has sent summons to his father Deepak Modi, brother Nishal Modi, sister Purvi Modi her husband Mayank Mehta and Mihir Bhansali, the Director of US-based firm Firestar Diamond Inc.

According to a media report, the summonses have been sent through emails as the family members of fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi are not in India.

The ED had earlier sent a summon to the billionaire jeweller Mehul Choksi, however, he did not appear before them.

The Central Bureau of Investigation had filed its first charge sheet in the PNB Scam on May 14 in a special court in Mumbai.
