The Enforcement Directorate has moved the Patiala House court in Delhi seeking to declare liquor baron Vijay Mallya a proclaimed offender.

Mallya is accused of loan fraud to the tune of Rs 9,000 crore and has fled to UK from India. He was also the chairman of the grounded Kingfisher Airlines that has unpaid loans of thousands of crores.

India has been urging the UK to extradite Mallya for trial in India. The British side conveyed that the extradition hearings for Mallya will start on December 4 and he will remain on conditional bail.

Mallya recently figured in the 'Paradise Papers' on financial holdings abroad along with a number of Indian entities.
