Amrapali roped in former Indian cricket captain as group's brand ambassador in 2009

Former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni has approached the Supreme Court seeking a direction to the Amrapali Group to settle his dues of  Rs 40 crore towards his service to the real estate company as its brand ambassador.

Amrapali roped in former Indian cricket captain as group's brand ambassador in 2009 and Dhoni granted the group the right to use his endorsement in marketing and public relations activities, according to reports. However, Dhoni parted ways with the group in 2016 after a group of duped Amrapali customers launched an online campaign against Dhoni for promoting the company.

The cricketer asked the court to allot him a land parcel belong to the group to protect his financial interest.

Dhoni said that he entered into an agreement with the company to promote their various projects but he was not paid for his endorsements to the tune of 38.95 crore due to him.

The Supreme Court in February allowed the Delhi Police to arrest Amrapali CMD Anil Sharma, along with two other Amrapali associates in a criminal complaint registered against them for cheating thousands of customers who have invested in the group's properties but were not handed over flats.
