Delhi sizzles at 44 degrees; Safdarjung records 46 degrees

Safdarjung observatory recorded the highest temperature of the season on Tuesday as the mercury hit 44.0 degrees Celsius.

Beating the Monday's temperature Palam observatory also recorded 46 degree Celsius. Both Palam observatory and Safdarjung observatory's records are highest of the season.

Meanwhile, Indian Meteorological Department issued a warning of a heatwave in Delhi along with four other states of the country for next five days.

The states that will be affected with the severe heatwave are Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

According to the warning, the maximum temperature may shoot up to 48 degrees Celsius during those five days.

Delhi recorded the hottest day on Monday with the mercury touching 41 degrees, according to Safdarjung observatory. The minimum temperature of the day was recorded at 26 degrees in the morning.

As per the IMD statement, Uttar Pradesh may witness dust storms along with thunderstorm.

The issued warning of heatwave has put millions of residents of these states at the risk of illness caused by heat such as heat stroke and heat exhaustion.

People are advised to take precautionary measures to avoid such illness.
