Delhi: Ex-BSP MP's son booked after brandishing gun outside 5-star hotel

The Delhi Police on Tuesday registered a complaint against a former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP's son after a video of him brandishing a pistol at a five-star hotel went viral on social media. 

Ashish Pandey, son of former BSP MP Rakesh Pandey, was seen with a gun in his hands at Delhi's Hyatt Regency Hotel as he argued with a woman and threatened her, reports said.

The incident reportedly took place on Sunday, October 14, after a party.

The Delhi police have registered the case under the Arms Act and say Pandey will be arrested soon.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs of India, Kiren Rijiju took to Twitter and said "Delhi Police has initiated action on this incident which is also being shown in the media. FIR has been registered under Arms Act and IPC. Strong and appropriate action will be taken. Also verifying the identity of others."

Hyatt Regency Hotel has issued a statement saying that they have been working with local authorities and are taking the incident very seriously. 

"We assure our support and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities in reference to any further investigation in this matter," the statement said.

Ashish Pandey is the brother of Ritesh Pandey, the BSP MLA from Jalalpur in Uttar Pradesh's Ambedkar Nagar.
