Shallow fog in Delhi, 54 trains delayed

A layer of shallow fog engulfed the national capital on Wednesday morning resulting in delay of 54 north-bound rail services and rescheduling of 12 others.

The visibility was recorded at 800 metres and the humidity was 88 per cent at 8.30am.

There is no information about any delays or cancellations of flights so far.

The national capital has been experiencing bitter cold since the last few days, leading to cancellation and rescheduling of trains. The minimum temperature was recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday morning, normal for this time of the year, the MeT office said.

On December 15, 25 trains were delayed, two rescheduled and 12 cancelled due to low visibility.

On December 13, at least 13 trains were delayed, 10 cancelled and one rescheduled due to foggy weather and low visibility 

During fog, visibility becomes very low and trains have to run at a highly-restricted speed to ensure the safety of the passengers causing considerable delays in their movement.
