Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to put an end to sealing drive in Delhi. Kejriwal also pushed for a bill in the Parliament that would bring sealing drives in Delhi to an end.

He also requested the Prime Minister for a meeting to discuss this 'very serious' issue.

Kejriwal's letter to the Prime Minister was tweeted out from Aam Aadmi Party's Twitter handle yesterday.

"Honest traders and shopkeepers are facing the ill-effects of the sealing drive. These people are not dishonest, they work hard and pay taxes," read the letter.

In his letter, Kejriwal noted sealing as an outcome of some loopholes in the law which can only be addressed by passing a bill in the parliament.

A Supreme Court-appointed committee ordered various municipal corporations in the national capital region to carry out sealing drives. Hundreds of commercial established have borne the brunt of the drive that began in December last year. The sealing drive has been carried out to keep a check on the violators who did not pay 'conversion charges' or violated Delhi Master Plan.
