Delhi chief secretary assault case: Court dismisses AAP MLA's plea

The Delhi Patiala House court on Saturday dismissed the plea of AAP MLAs demanding a restriction on police from sharing information with media in the Delhi Chief Secretary assault case.

The counsel appearing for the AAP MLAs had moved the Patiala court on August 14 demanding that the court should put a restriction on the police for sharing the information with the media as the case was undergoing a media trial.

The counsel said, " This is not a simple matter. Chief secretary is the complainant and chief minister is accused. Delhi police is trying to make this a media trial."

The next court hearing for the charge sheet is scheduled for September 18.

The police have prepared a charge sheet against Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia over the alleged attack on a top bureaucrat on the evidence and statements of many.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and 11 other MLAs have been named accused in the alleged assault case of Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash.

Anshu Prakash had alleged that he was attacked and beaten up by lawmakers of Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in February.

Kejriwal and his party colleagues, on the other hand, said that the case is “politically motivated”.
