Delhi: Bike-borne men stop school bus, shoot driver, kidnap student

Two bike-borne men have stopped a school bus, shot the driver, and kidnapped a student in Delhi on Thursday morning. 

There were 15 to 20 children on the bus when the attack took place, but the kidnappers took only one child. 

The kidnapped child is a nursery student. His father is a businessman. 

The reasons for the attack and kidnapping, however, are still unclear. 

The incident shows that the assailants were certain about the identity of the child they were kidnapping.

The incident took place at a time when the police have claimed that there is ground-to-air security in the national capital in view of the India-ASEAN commemorative summit and the Republic Day.

An FIR has been filed and crime branch has also been roped in to crack the case, police said.

Police are currently searching for the abducted kid and have alerted their counterparts in Uttar Pradesh, officials said.

They are probing various angles including personal enmity being the trigger for the abduction of the child, the officials.
