<p>Noted Bengali filmmaker Mrinal Sen passed away on Sunday in Kolkata at the age of 95.</p>

<p>Born on May 14, 1923, in a town in Faridpur now in Bangladesh, Sen&nbsp;was often considered to be one of the greatest ambassadors of Bengali parallel cinema globally.</p>

<p>He earned several National and International awards for his work.</p>

<p>Sen studied physics in his college. As a student, he also&nbsp;participated&nbsp;in the cultural wing of the Communist Party of India.&nbsp;</p>
