The cyclonic storm 'Bulbul' is likely to lash Odisha with heavy rains and strong winds from Friday, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
As a precautionary measure, the district administrations in Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara have ordered the closure of schools and Anganwadi Centres for two days.
"It is very likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm during the next six hours. It is very likely to move initially north-northwestwards for next 12 hours and then nearly northwards till November 9 morning and then re-curve northeastwards towards Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal," read a statement.

IMD has issued a warning for strong wind speed reaching 35 - 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph becoming squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph by the afternoon of November 8 over Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Balasore and Bhadrak districts.
