Credit for UP civic poll victory goes to all BJP workers: UP CM

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that he would like to give credit for the civic poll victory to all BJP workers. 

''I would like to give credit of this win to all BJP workers who worked for the party to communicate its agenda of development to all. I would also like to thank all the voters,'' he said addressing a press conference after BJP recorded a resounding victory in the polls.

CM's statement comes after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) registered a big win in the polls. 

Addressing a press conference here, Adityanath said, "This election is to make us responsible. This poll is an eye opener for everyone, including those who were linking UP civic polls with Gujarat Assembly polls."

The BJP has won 14 of the 16 mayoral seats in the state. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has won in the remaining two places. 

Kanpur BJP`s Pramila Pandey has become second woman mayor. Vinod Agarwal of the BJP has won the mayor seat of Moradabad.The BJP leads in 57 wards of the 98 wards getting counted in Lucknow.

Results come as a jolt for the Samajwadi Party as the BSP has dented their vote base in urban areas.The BJP has also won the prestigious Ayodhya-Faizabad seat.
