Covid-19 situation not that huge in India as in other parts of the world: PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday claimed that the impact of coronavirus in India is not as worse as in several other parts of the world. The death rate is also low as compared to most other nations, he added.

The PM also stressed that the economy has started to look up."Because of the efforts made in the last few weeks, green shoots have begun to be visible in our economy," said the PM.

His remarks came during his meeting with the Chief Ministers and heads of 21 States and Union Territories on the Covid-19 situation in the country, held via video conferencing.

"Two weeks have passed since Unlock 1, our experience during this time could be beneficial for us in the future. Today I will get to know ground reality from you, your suggestions will help in chalking out future strategy," he said.

"Timing matters a lot in overcoming any crisis. Timely decisions have helped a lot in containing coronavirus in the country," he said.

Meanwhile, coronavirus cases in India are 3, 43,091 and Covid-19 death tally is over 9,900. There are 1, 53,178 coronavirus positive cases in India while 1, 80,012 COVID 19 positive patients have recovered and 9900 people have died due to coronavirus. One has been migrated, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Apart from Delhi, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh are the worst affected states in the country. Another worrying sign is that north-east states have started recording an increasing number of daily COVID 19 cases.
