COVID-19: Mumbai reports over 1,000 cases in single day; infections surge to over 32,000

India's financial capital Mumbai on Tuesday reported 1,002 new coronavirus cases including 39 deaths.

According to officials, the total number of coronavirus cases in Maharasthra's capital has now surged to 32,791 with the death toll rising to 1,065.

Gujarat reported 361 new coronavirus cases and 27 deaths in the last 24 hours with the total number of cases rising to 14,829 and the death toll surging to 915.

Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh health department said 165 new coronavirus cases were reported including five deaths today taking the number of cases in the state to 7,024. The death toll due to COVID-19 in the state now stands at 319. The health department said 3689 patients have been cured of the virus.

Uttar Pradesh state government said 229 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state with the death toll rising to 177. The total number of COVID-19 cases now stands at 6724 while Goa reported no new cases today.

In Rajasthan, 236 people were reported with the virus taking the total number of cases in the state to 7536. The state health department said 170 people had died due to the virus while 4,276 had recovered. There are 3,090 active cases of the virus in the state.

Jharkhand health department said that 18 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state today, taking the total number of cases to 426 including 247 active cases.
