COVID-19: Maharashtra records highest one day toll as cases rise to over 62,000

Karnataka's health department said today that 248 people tested positive for coronavirus as the total number of cases rose to 2,781 in the state.

Maharashtra on Friday recorded 116 deaths in the last 24 hours which is the highest number of deaths due to COVID-19 in a single day. 

The state recorded 2,682 new coronavirus cases taking the total number of cases to 62,228. Maharashtra is the worst-hit state with the virus with several areas being badly affected with capital Mumbai recording the highest number of cases.

The death toll in Maharashtra due to the virus stands at 2,098.

Meanwhile, Karnataka's health department said today that 248 people tested positive for coronavirus as the total number of cases rose to 2,781 in the state.

The death toll due to the virus in Karnataka has risen to 48.

In Uttarakhand, 114 more cases were detected with the virus on Friday taking the total number of cases in the state to 716.
