COVID-19: Maharashtra Police reports 51 new cases; 18 deaths

Andhra Pradesh recorded 44 new cases with the number of COVID-19 cases rising to 2,671, the state health department said

Maharashtra police reported 51 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the total number of cases in the forces to 1809.

According to Maharashtra state police, there are 1,113 active cases with 678 recoveries. Eighteen policemen have died due to the virus.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said: "Coronavirus cases have increased in Delhi due to relaxation in lockdown, but there is nothing to worry about unless the mortality rate or the number of serious cases rises rapidly."

"Most of the cases have mild symptoms or are asymptomatic and being treated at home," the Delhi chief minister added.

The Delhi chief minister said that till Tuesday there were 13,418 positive cases out which 6,540 have recovered and 6,617 are active cases.

"2,000 new beds will be available in private hospitals from today for those who go for coronavirus treatment," the Delhi chief minister said, while adding that "3,314 patients are undergoing treatment for coronavirus at home."

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh recorded 44 new cases with the number of COVID-19 cases rising to 2,671, the state health department said. 

The number of active cases in Andhra Pradesh has risen to 767 with 56 deaths.

Himachal Pradesh health department reported 142 active cases with 59 recoveries and four deaths due to the virus.
