COVID 19: India records more than 7,960 cases; highest rise till now

Total number of cases in the country is now 1,73,763 which includes 86,422 active cases.
As the country steps into the final stages of lockdown 4.0, India has seen yet another steep increase in the number of positive coronavirus cases.
A total of 7,964 new positive cases were reported in the past 24 hours. This is the highest spike in the past few months.
A total of 265 deaths were also reported. Total number of cases in the country is now 1,73,763 which includes 86,422 active cases, 82,370 cured/discharged/migrated and 4,971 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Odisha reported 96 new positive cases, taking the total number of cases to 1,819. Active cases stand at 833 in the state.

Rajasthan reported 49 new cases, taking the total number of cases to 8,414. Death toll stands at 185 after one death was reported today.

Maharashtra, which has been one of the worst-affected states of the country, has reported 114 new cases of police personnel , and 1 death. The total toll for infected personnel is now 2,325 in the state and 26 have died so far.
150 more positive cases have been reported in Bihar, taking the total number of cases to 3,509.
Andhra Pradesh has reported 70 new cases, taking the toll to 2,944.

Indore reported 87 more coronavirus positive cases in the last 24 hours, the tally has increased to 3,431, and 129 total deaths, an official said on Saturday.
Manipur, on the other hand, reported only one new positive case, increasing the total number of cases to 60, which has 53 active cases.

Karnataka government, on Saturday, said the Sunday curfew will be lifted for this week. Karnataka Chief Secretary TM Vijaybhaskar, announced that the decision has been taken following a request by the general public. However, the lockdown from 7 pm to next day 7 am will continue as usual. At least 3,500 KSRTC buses will also be allowed to run on Sunday.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced an extension of the lockdown for the month of June, with few restrictions eased, as the number of cases have been rising, with the damage caused by the cyclone in the state.
