COVID 19: India crosses 2.3 lakh mark with 9,887 new cases and 6,642 deaths

India recorded yet another highest spike in number of new positive coronavirus cases and deaths, as Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported 9,887 new cases and 294 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The total number of coronavirus cases has risen to 2,36,657 in the country, including 1,15,942 active cases, 1,14,073 cured/discharged/migrated and 6,642 deaths.

Mahrashtra has been the epicenter of COVID-19 where the number pf cases crossed 80,000 by Friday late evening, with more than 2,800 deaths.

Haryana, too, has seen a spike in cases as the number of office-goers has increased. The state health department reported 316 new cases, increasing the total number of cases to 3,597, including 1,209 recovered/discharged and 24 deaths. This is after 46,800 people have completed the surveillance period.

Goa, which was once the green zone, recorded 30 new cases, taking the toll to 196, including 131 active cases and 65 recovered patients.

Telangana reported 143 new in the state, taking the total number of cases in the state to 3,290, according to Telangana Health Department.

Delhi's containment zones increased to 163, as the positivity rate increased from 25.7 per cent last week to 38 per cent this week in several districts.
