COVID-19: 279 deaths in India in last 24 hours; infection cases surge to over 2.76 lakh

On Tuesday, the country had reported 9,987 new coronavirus cases with 9,983 new COVID-19 cases on Monday with 206 deaths.

The total number of cases in the country has now surged to 2,76,583, including 1,33,632 active cases, the health ministry informed with the death toll rising to 7,745.

The ministry said 1,35,206 patients have been cured of the virus. 

Meanwhile, Pune in Maharashtra declared that the number of cases in the city had crossed 10,000 with the death toll climbing to 442.

The Punjab government said today that it has decided to allow community kitchens and serving offerings at religious places subject to conditions that physical distancing norms and coronavirus hygiene precautions are stringently followed.

Jharkhand reported 86 fresh coronavirus cases taking the total number of cases to 1,416. The death toll in the state has climbed to 849.

The Uttarakhand state health department said that 49 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state taking the total number of cases to 1,537.

Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday reported 211 new coronavirus cases with 6 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of coronavirus has surged to 9,849 with the total number of deaths climbing to 420.
