Telangana: 2 Congress MLAs expelled, 9 suspended after lawmaker throws headphones at Vidhan Sabha chairman

Two Congress MLAs were expelled from the Telangana assembly a day after Koatireddy Venkat Reddy, threw headphone on state Legislative assembly Chairman Swamy Goud.

While Koatireddy Venkat Reddy and Sampath Kumar were expelled from the assembly, 9 other MLAs were suspended.

The suspended members included Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy. 

The suspension came amidst the ongoing Budget session in the assembly.

The MLAs were protesting during the Governor's address to the joint sitting of the Legislature.

A day before, Reddy threw headphones on the chairman of the Telangana Legislative assembly, Swamy Goud, following which Goud was immediately taken to a hospital.

Reports say that the minister was hit in his right eye and has partially damaged his cornea. 

The headphone was apparently targeted at the governor and mistakingly it hit Swamy Goud.

Congress was protesting in the assembly over "government's poor response in handling farmers' issue".

The speaker today expressed his disappointment over the incident that took place in the assembly yesterday.
