Former finance minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram was on Thursday sent to 14-day judicial custody in the INX Media case.

Rouse Avenue Court sent the Congress leader to judicial custody till September 19. 

Chidambaram filed an application before Delhi court seeking a direction to ensure safe detention while in judicial custody. 

He also sought a direction for jail authorities to provide separate cell with adequate security.

Meanwhile, Chidambaram's lawyers have moved an application in court stating that Chidambaram wants to surrender to Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the case.

Court issued a notice to ED and sought its reply. Hearing to be held on September 12.
